Panasonic has expanded their cine camera lineup with the affordable AU-EVA1 model. Pulling a number of features from their higher priced models, the EVA1 boasts a Super 35mm 5.7k CMOS sensor capable of incredibly detailed images with high dynamic range and accurate color rendition. One of the standout features is dual-native ASA which gives the user two options, 800 or 2500. Choosing 2500 opens up the ability to shoot in very low-light scenes. The sensor utilizes dual circuitry to switch the base ASA which does NOT introduce additional noise to the image.
Internally the camera can record resolutions of 4k, UHD, 2k, and 1080p. Because of the larger resolution 5.7k sensor the resulting, down-sampled, images have less noise and more detail compared to other cameras. The EVA-1 records to compact and affordable SD cards with a variety of compression options. With a future firmware upgrade the camera will be able to output 5.7k RAW and record internal 400 mb/s 4k files.
Weighing in at only 2.6 pounds, the EVA-1 is an operator/gimbal friendly camera. With simplified menus and an intuitive button layout users will find this new camera very easy to use. We offer the option of native Canon EF mount or the Wooden Camera PL mount modification which opens up the possibility of mounting a large number of PL-cine glass.
